get free musicHow come it's so much easier to get free music for guitar than for piano?

It seems like when I go on google to find music, there's a huge selection of free guitar music but for piano, everyone wants you to pay for music and acts like it's illegal to get it for free. But it doesn't seem like that for guitar.
Most of the guitar music you find online is in the form of guitar tabs, which are created by people, then uploaded to the internet with the purpose of teaching people to play the songs for free.
These are easy to type and upload to a computer, and most importantly, are made by people to be given out for free. They're also usually slightly off, as most people create the tabs by ear.

Piano music, on the other hand, is almost always in the form of proper sheet music. As opposed to guitar tabs, these are not easy to create by hand unless you are very skilled at what you do. It is therefore incredibly rare to find user created, user uploaded sheet music for piano. The skill required for piano sheet music is much greater.

It should also be noted that the official shget free musiceet music for songs is copyrighted, which does indeed mean that it is illegal for you to download it for free.

That said, just google "free piano sheet music," and you'll find many websites that compile uploaded sheet music for popular songs.
Is the guitar music in tablature or actual music notes? If it is tablature, it makes sense that there is so much and that it is free because almost every guitarist likes to tab out what they've figured out by ear and show it to others. It is also easier to type it up and distribute it. Actual music notes are harder to write out on the computer without scanning a document or taking a picture. Text takes less space than images. :)

And as far as it being illegal, tab that has been written by someone isn't copyrighted but most music compositions are.
That's because guitar music is usually just the chord charts for random pop songs, and if artists want people to play their music then they have to make the basics available on the internet. Also, its get free musicquite easy to listen to a song and write up a chord chart for guitar so that a song can be built around it.

Of course its not always chord charts, but the amount of guitar music online that is an actual song you would learn to play solo on the guitar for a performance is about the same as piano.

Piano music is too awesome for guitar music, but its much more difficult to compose also, which makes it more important for people to get money from the works they compose. Guitar music is usually group pieces or pop songs, as I said already. Those musicians get money from the sale of there song so don't care as much, but the piano composers need you to buy the book
There's plenty of free piano music out there, but the only legally free stuff is public domain. With guitar stuff, most of what you find are amateur transcriptions written into tabs and uploaded to various guitar sites.
Because guitars are more popular in POP culture throughout the World.
