I have after a sleep study discovered that i have moderate obstructive sleep apnea. I was wondering if that would qualify me for modafinil prescription. I currently take 3-4 caffiene pills a day to cope with daytime sleepiness. Would that be adequate for me to obtain a prescription for modafinil?

Hi Edwin J Sleep apnea is an obstruction somewhere in the respiratory tract. It can be caused by a quantity of things. Scar tissue is very likely cause. severe daytime sleepiness Sleep apnea surgery does not work for many people because the skin damage is actually worse compared to the original problem. . My question to you is did you snore before your nose job. If so you probably had OSA previously. Many people do. . . Sleep apnea is found in people of all sizes and shapes. Kids have SA as well.. . The problem is; you have OSA not narcolepsy. Modafinil is indicated to that. The key word is "Obstructive" which is treated with CPAP or Bipap.
the reason your so sleepy during the daytime' is; your obstructing while asleep and not ever getting enough quality sleep. I am guessing that you might be overweight to some degree? if so, CPAP/Bipap will help you sleep, which in turn will help keep you more active during the daytime, thus losing some wieght possbily:-)
